This item just arrived yesterday. I got it to replace my plastic french press mug because I was sick of drinking coffee that tasted like plastic. So far, this is doing a wonderful job.A couple notes: The picture on here doesn't do this justice. It's beautifully designed. The only downsides: It's smaller than the mug it's replacing -- I'd guess you get about 8 oz of brewed coffee out of every press. The glass isn't quite insulated well enough, so it's a little hot to hold when it's first brewed. Thicker glass or a handle would be a definite plus.

The design of this is asthetically georgous and it makes a delicious cup of french press coffee. As the other reviewer has commented, it does get quite hot to handle during the initial 10 minutes or so after the brewing (the top and bottom are actually fine, it's just the middle part where the glass layers are closer together). My only real concern though is the cleaning.Grounds get stuck under the silicone lips and the only way to really get them out is to pull off the silicone rims. The problem I see with this is that over time, they will most certainly tear, rendering the press worthless. Leaving the grounds under there wouldn't be a good idea either, as they can affect the taste of the coffee. The metal that they surround isn't jagged, but it is sharp enough that I anticipate tearing in the near future. Stretching is also a concern.One other note is that I did email the manufacturer one week ago about instructions to properly clean this unit and of my concerns about the silicone ripping. I have still not heard any response, which was disappointing. I don't know if they even sell the rings as replacement parts to be purchased or as a warrantied item. This might just end up in the landfill in a few months when they do go :(
