I just received this press today and on inspection I am satisfied for the price. The lid does not fit as smug as I would like but the materials while inexpensive show a marginal quality of design. Realize a cheap french press will work almost as well as an expensive one. The proof is in the longevity and the compromise of form versus function. The question of insulated glass is irrelevant as coffee prepared in a press should be transferred almost immediately to a warmed cup or a insulated carafe. The borosilicate glass is nothing more than a type of Pyrex that adds durability for temperature variations.The base is stable, and the press mechanism is steel. While a good press will revel its quality in the long term. The most important factors are beans and the grinder. I will test the China made Milano against a Bodum Brazil (my favorite inexpensive press) and update the results. Note current made Boduim's are made in China also.
